When it comes to unforgettable Adelaide weddings, Carla and Luke’s celebration at Freemasons Hall stands out for its bold style, heartfelt moments, and a show-stopping Alexis George bridal gown. Their day was a true reflection of who they are as a couple—unconventional, stylish, and deeply in love.
Where It All Began
Carla and Luke’s story started on a relaxed Sunday afternoon in Peel Street, Adelaide. Their romance blossomed over shared laughs and good times, eventually leading to a heartfelt proposal. Luke surprised Carla with a birthday picnic at her favourite lookout, Montefiore Hill—a perfect, intimate moment overlooking the city they call home.

Wedding Inspiration: A Modern Take on Classic Glamour
From the outset, Carla and Luke knew they wanted a wedding that broke from tradition. “We aren’t overly traditional people. We always wanted something different. Our day was about us, good food, music, and the people we love,” Carla shares. Drawing inspiration from the glamour of the 1920s and 1940s, their vision came to life with a striking black and white palette accented by burgundy and gold. This theme was woven through every detail—from their matching wedding rings to the décor and attire—creating a cohesive and elegant atmosphere.

The Alexis George Experience
Choosing Alexis George for her wedding dress was a natural decision for Carla. After seeing her friend’s stunning gown and hearing glowing recommendations, she knew she was in expert hands. “A welcoming smile from Nina upon arrival put me at ease. Wedding dress shopping can be hectic. AG was the last stop of a full day of dress shopping and it was definitely worth the wait. George is such a genuine man, his knowledge of style and fit made the whole experience easy. As a bride that had no idea what she wanted, I walked away being obsessed with my decision, still am to this day. It was perfection. Edgy enough to be me, with a touch of ‘bride’ for the special day,” Carla recalls.

The Dress: Art Deco Elegance Meets Modern Edge
Carla’s Alexis George wedding dress was a true statement piece, perfectly blending vintage glamour with contemporary style. The gown featured art deco sequin lace in a mermaid silhouette, with a plunging neckline and dramatic low back. A unique zigzag train followed the intricate lace pattern, while a French tulle overskirt—crafted from over 50 metres of delicate tulle—added a romantic, ethereal touch. The overskirt provided a dreamy look for the ceremony and was removed for the evening, revealing a sleeker silhouette ideal for dancing and celebrating into the night.

A Day to Remember
For Carla, the highlight of the day was seeing their vision come to life. “The vibe was so relaxed but with the 1920/1940’s classic look that we wanted,” she says. The couple’s focus on creating a joyful, authentic atmosphere was evident in every moment, from the heartfelt ceremony to the lively reception filled with laughter, music, and dancing.

Advice for Future Brides
Carla’s advice to other brides is simple but powerful: “Follow your heart and gut instincts. Many people may not like or agree with you. But it’s your day, a day you will forever look back on and you don’t want it filled with regrets or what if’s. Your Day, Your Way!”.
